We are a supporting cause very near and dear to our heart this June for our "Metta Gives Back" event. Our resident teacher Kris Ward’s now 3-year-old daughter, Hala, was born with a sizable VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) heart murmur. Just this month, Hala’s doctors unexpectedly told the Ward family that Hala will need to undergo open heart surgery, and quickly. Hala’s surgery is scheduled for June 15, and her recovery will be 4-6 months. The Ward family is staying hopeful and present for a positive outcome, and is so grateful to the community for the love and support they’ve been shown. Hala is such a resilient and joyful girl! We know she will come out of this surgery stronger than ever. 100% of the proceeds from this special class will go to the Ward family to help with Hala’s medical expenses.
Jacqueline Besse—beloved Metta teacher and new mom—will be coming back early from her maternity leave to teach this benefit class! It will be a heart-themed, 75 minute, all-levels class in Hala’s honor.
Please join us, and bring friends and family! Children are welcome provided they are not new to yoga, comfortable in an adult class, able to follow instruction safely and quietly for the full duration.
Although class is FREE, anything you can contribute is appreciated (cash preferred). We hope to see you there!
If you cannot make the class and still wish to donate to the Ward family for Hala, you can do so through the GoFundMe Page here.
