Marin Humane, nationally recognized and honored, supports animal rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming.
While caring for animals (more than 10,000 per year) and placing homeless pets in loving homes (2,168 in 2018!) is their primary focus, they also have programs that:
▪️ help kids who are struggling to read gain confidence by reading to a dog;
▪️ help keep guardians and pets together in times of financial hardship or illness;
▪️ provide a safe space for people with disabilities to interact with animals;
▪️ bring joy to seniors, those in hospitals and hospice, and children facing challenges, via our animal-assisted therapy program;
▪️ help children on the autism spectrum through our Jumping for Joy dog agility program;
▪️ through our Pen Pals of San Quentin program, help nonviolent, specially selected inmates learn to help shelter dogs housed temporarily at SQ overcome medical and behavioral issues so they can be ready to find their forever homes;
▪️ provide community education to all ages about animals and the human-animal bond;
and much more.
Marin Humane takes in adoptable animals from overcrowded shelters throughout the state, lessening the euthanasia rate at those shelters.
Marin Humane advocates for animals, lending its voice to end cruel practices and promoting peaceful coexistence with wildlife.
