Calm in the Chaos: Regulating Your Nervous System While Parenting

  • Metta Yoga Corte Madera 8 Tamalpais Drive Corte Madera, CA, 94925 United States (map)

Parenting asks so much of us. Whether you're navigating tantrums, school refusal, anxiety,

sibling conflict, teenage challenges, or simply the daily demands of family life, it's easy to find

yourself reacting from stress instead of responding with intention.

This experiential workshop is designed for parents and caregivers of children of all ages who

want to feel more grounded, connected, and resilient. Together, we'll explore how your own

nervous system shapes your interactions with your children and learn practical mindfulness and

somatic tools to help you find calm, even in the midst of chaos.

Through guided reflection, practice, and discussion, you'll leave with skills you can begin using

immediately.

In this workshop, you'll learn:

  • How to recognize your own stress triggers, including time pressure, judgment, and

comparison.

  • The basics of the nervous system and simple practices to shift from reactivity into

regulation.

  • The RAIN mindfulness practice for navigating difficult parenting moments with greater

awareness and self-compassion.

  • Practical tools to respond to your child with more presence, connection, and

confidence—even when emotions are running high.

You don't have to be a "perfect" parent to create a calmer home. By learning to regulate your

own nervous system, you can become a steadier presence for yourself and your family.

About the instructor:

Kristen Lebacqz, MFT is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, mindfulness meditation teacher, and mom who is passionate about helping parents find steadiness and self-compassion in the midst of family life. As the founder of Marin Mindful Therapy, she supports parents and caregivers in navigating stress, anxiety, burnout, grief, and life's transitions by combining mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and psychotherapy.

Kristen has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 2015. Her background includes serving as a school counselor, teaching in the Family Program at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and working as a Community Grief Counselor with By the Bay Health. She is trained in relational and somatic psychotherapy, object relations theory, mindfulness-based therapy, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for trauma. In 2023, she completed the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach.

As both a therapist and a parent, Kristen understands that parenting can be deeply meaningful and deeply overwhelming—sometimes all in the same moment. She believes that when parents learn to regulate their own nervous systems, they create more space for connection, resilience, and repair with their children and themselves.

In her teaching Kristen offers practical, accessible mindfulness and nervous system practices to help parents respond to the challenges of everyday family life with greater presence, calm, and compassion. Her teaching style is grounded, relatable, and welcoming, creating a supportive space where participants can reconnect with themselves and leave with tools they can begin using right away.
