Evolutionary Anatomy & Embodied Alignment - a 20hr training for practitioners and teachers

with Michelle Nayeli Bouvier

January 29-February 7, 2027 | Metta Yoga San Rafael

Join Michelle Bouvier at Metta for a training that expands traditional anatomical knowledge through contemporary research in biotensegrity, fascia science, and nervous system integration.

In this training, you’ll learn how to offer creative adaptations and variations for common injuries, including patterns shaped by modern life, while making practice safe, welcoming, and accessible for all bodies.

You’ll also explore how to teach alignment as an internal experience of support, ease, and integration through joint congruence and fasciategrity.

What you’ll learn:

Weekend 1: Evolutionary Anatomy (possibly open as a stand alone workshop)

  • Composition, properties and types of fascia and how connective tissue creates our living architecture

  • Neuromyofascia - the BodyMind meshwork and what it means for embodied practice

  • Biotensegrity as an updated model of biomechanics in the round

  • Moving from correction to connection - teaching alignment as an internal experience of force distribution and integration, rather than external shape

  • Empowering agency and safety through interoceptive cueing

  • How to guide without "policing" rigid outer shapes, allowing individual alignment to emerge

Weekend 2: Embodied Alignment

  • Recognizing patterns of modern lifestyles on movement, posture, breath, etc. and what to do about them

  • Practical strategies for working with common injuries and preventing them in practice

  • A clear framework of how to adapt any asana to any body.

  • Pattern recognition within individual variation

  • How to create safety for both body and nervous system

  • Creative adaptations and variations to increase accessibility for all

Why This Training Matters:

As teachers, we are constantly meeting students with different bodies, histories, injuries, and needs. This training gives you the tools to teach with more clarity, confidence, and adaptability, so you can support students in a way that feels informed, inclusive, and deeply respectful.

By blending current movement science with the wisdom of yoga, you’ll learn how to create practices that are safe, sustainable, accessible, and meaningful for a wider range of students.
