What is the crown chakra and what does it represent?

In Sanskrit, the seventh chakra is known as sahasrara. Sahasrara means “thousand-petaled lotus.” The opening of your crown chakra represents the alignment of your own personal energy with that of Source.

Where is the crown chakra?

The crown chakra is located at the top of the head at the fontanelle. The crown chakra is the final station on your journey through the seven major chakras. When the body’s innate energy (prana) flows unimpeded through the chakras from root to crown, you’ve nurtured a channel within your very being through which you foster communication with the divine.

Unblock and Open Your Crown Chakra with a Daily Ritual Routine

Open your crown chakra with a daily personal ritual practice. Show the Universe that you are open to an ongoing dialogue with divine inspiration. Spiritual ritual can be simple and straightforward. You can build a simple altar to show your receptivity to a spiritual relationship. Designate a small area or altar space in your home for your daily morning mindfulness practice for journaling, meditation, breath work, and spiritual reading.

Ideas for decorating your altar space:

  • Fresh seasonal flowers

  • Photos of loved ones who have passed and fresh pieces of fruit they enjoyed

  • Photos of your spiritual teachers

  • Crystals

  • Mala beads

  • Love notes or affirmations

  • So much more

Clean and dust your altar space on a regular basis. (You might feel inspired to coordinate this activity with the moon cycle.) Compost any withered flowers and burn sage or palo santo to cleanse the energy of any family members, pets, or housemates who may have walked through your altar area.
