What is the throat chakra?

In Sanskrit, the third chakra is known as vishuddha. One translation of vishuddha is “most pure.” We nourish our throat chakra so that we can send out words into the Universe to express our purest intentions.

Where is the throat chakra?

The throat chakra is located at the voice box. Remember that the throat chakra is also associated with the ears—just as we want to speak pure words, we also want to listen for authenticity in the words we hear. Anatomically the throat and ears are connected, too—ever notice how sometimes an earache correlates with a sore throat? Practice yoga poses like bridge and shoulder stand to concentrate energy on the front of the throat.

How can you tell if your throat chakra is blocked?

Your throat chakra might be blocked if you’re afraid of public speaking. Writers may also unknowingly have fifth chakra issues when they experience writers’ block, and the words can’t seem to come out. You might have a fifth chakra imbalance if your words are coming out too forcefully, or your words are hurting others.

Cleanse and Soothe your Throat Chakra

Looking for a recipe to cultivate mindfulness around your throat chakra? Associated with the throat and ears, the fifth chakra is all about clear speech and good listening skills. Invite turmeric into your diet to alleviate inflammation around the throat chakra!
