1st Sunday of the month, 1:30-3pm at Metta Yoga San Rafael
About this class
Join Sara Hess once a month for a 90-minute class in somatic movement. This is an exploratory approach to physical practice that emphasizes internal awareness, nervous system integration, and re-patterning through repetition and focused attention.
While some shapes may resemble yoga, this is not a yoga class. Rather than moving through set sequences or aiming for external form, you’ll be guided to explore how movement feels from the inside. This process-oriented approach supports and informs your yoga practice while standing on its own as a distinct modality.
Each session focuses on a specific theme or area of inquiry, offering a clear framework for movement, attention, and embodied learning.
This class is designed for anyone interested in how the body learns, adapts, and refines itself through sensing, repetition, and awareness.
Reserve your spot and join us monthly to move with purpose, clarity, and curiosity.

Sara has been a student of yoga since 2000 and has 500+ hours of training (ERYT-500). Based in San Francisco and Marin, Sara is known for leading fun, strong, and intelligent Vinyasa flow classes (Forest and Iyengar influenced).
She draws from her dance background, as a former ballet and modern dancer at the elite level, to create intelligently sequenced classes that gracefully synchronize breath, posture, and alignment. Through these key elements, students are supported to explore each pose in depth in order to encounter their full, transformative potential. Sara challenges and playfully invites her students to wake up to their most authentic selves.
