Philosophy as a Practice Weekend Immersion with Dana Damara

Join Dana Damara at Metta Yoga for Module 6 of her 300-Hour Embodied Yoga Method, an advanced yoga training rooted in embodied practice, philosophy, somatics, subtle body study, leadership, and teaching mastery.

This weekend immersion may be taken as part of the full 300-hour training or as a stand-alone module for those who want to deepen their learning in a specific area of practice.

About This Module

In this module, you’ll immerse yourself in the spiritual foundation of yoga through the Yoga Sutras, the Yamas and Niyamas, and ancient teachings brought into modern, practical application.

Through study, discussion, reflection, and embodied practice, you’ll explore how yoga philosophy can become a living practice, not just something we study, but something we carry into the way we teach, relate, lead, and move through the world.

What You’ll Explore

  • The Yoga Sutras and their relevance to modern practice

  • The Yamas and Niyamas as tools for self-inquiry and daily life

  • How philosophy can inform teaching, sequencing, and leadership

  • Mudras, mantras, yantras, and mythology

  • The relationship between ancient teachings and embodied practice

  • How to bring philosophy into class in a grounded and accessible way

Why This Module Matters

Yoga philosophy gives depth and context to the practice beyond physical movement. It invites us to look inward, refine our awareness, and understand yoga as a path of self-study, integration, and conscious living.

This module helps teachers and practitioners bring philosophy off the page and into the body, the classroom, and everyday life.

Who This Is For

This immersion is designed for:

  • Yoga teachers

  • Teachers-in-training

  • Dedicated practitioners

  • Students interested in yoga philosophy and spiritual study

  • Anyone wanting to bring more depth, meaning, and intention into their practice or teaching
