About Us

Metta Yoga is a women-owned boutique yoga studio in Marin County, founded with a shared vision of creating spaces that are welcoming, dynamic, community-driven, and rooted in yoga tradition.

Across our locations in Corte Madera, San Rafael, and Sausalito, we offer a wide range of teachers, classes, and studio experiences for every kind of practice. From strong and energizing to grounding and restorative, our offerings are here to meet you where you are and support the many reasons you come to yoga.

We hope that our studios inspire you to practice metta – or β€œloving kindness” – both on and off your yoga mat, and to live vibrantly, compassionately and joyfully.

    Amy Greywitt

    FOUNDER

With a legal career taking her from Chicago, to New York, to Washington D.C., to San Francisco, Amy's yoga mat was her constant; a sacred space to find peace and ease. Amy completed her first yoga teacher training with Les Levanthal at Yoga Tree San Francisco in 2012. She was hooked - her mind, body and soul were lit on fire. In 2016, Amy's second 200-hour teacher training with Dana Damara was joyfully interrupted by the early birth of boy / girl twins. In 2017, Amy took a leap of faith and opened Metta Yoga studio in Corte Madera, CA to bring the type of yoga to Marin County that she wanted in her own neighborhood: a boutique and community-focused yoga studio offering both spiritually and physically invigorating classes. Amy firmly believes in the importance of yoga to balance our stressful lives. She enjoys a dynamic and graceful, yet challenging flow inspired from her background as a dancer, athlete, professional, and now, mother of three.

Her style of teaching focuses on precise instruction that underscores the important relationship between alignment, breath, fluid movement and strength building. She puts an emphasis on thoughtful sequencing and pace, giving students a vigorous, strong physical practice and a deeper internal connection. Carla's classes are physically and mentally challenging, however she always works to meet you where you are each day. She delivers each class in English and Sanskrit with an original playlists of music ranging from hip-hop, pop and deep house to jazz, Alt and Chanting. She incorporates demonstrations when needed and hands on adjustments. Her goal is to create a space for expression, enthusiasm, fun, sweat, reflection and renewal.

    Temple Schauble

    CO-OWNER

As a 20-year yoga practitioner and teacher for ten years, Temple’s mission is to offer a yoga and breath practice that will help her students reduce levels of stress, cultivate inner peace and create space for more joy in their lives. Her teaching is based on a blend of styles, including an alignment-based methodology and the mind-body-breath integration of Kripalu Yoga Center, where she did her teacher training. She joined the studio as a Co-owner in 2020. In addition to teaching, Temple has enjoyed having the opportunity to work with community members, teachers and students at all three studios. She has experienced first-hand the importance of practicing yoga for well-being and this inspires her to share the benefits of this practice with her students. Her classes move between smoothly flowing poses to build stamina and strength and end with more restorative poses to open and rebalance the body.
